Opportunity, Poverty and National Policy: A Conversation with the 2016 DNC

Opportunity, Poverty and National Policy: A Conversation with the 2016 DNC

July 26, 2016 - 8:30 am

Local and national leaders will participate in a wide-ranging conversation about how federal policy can create opportunity and provide pathways out of poverty, both in Philadelphia and around the country, at an event during the Democratic National Convention.

Sponsored by Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity and Temple University, the event will present a non-partisan discussion about the real problems being felt by Philadelphia and surrounding communities and how Democrats will respond in the fall campaign and when the new administration and Congress take power. A similar event, sponsored by Spotlight, Policy Matters Ohio and Cleveland State University, will take place in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention.
An initial panel will explore issues fueling the poverty debate in Philadelphia, followed by a second panel featuring a national Democratic representative TBA.
